Formed in Newcastle upon Tyne in 2014, Pons Aelius are a high-energy progressive instrumental folk band known for their powerful live performances and dynamic musicianship. Blending traditional influences with modern drive, the six-piece create a distinctive acoustic sound built around soaring melodies, driving rhythms, and intricate arrangements.
Driven by a frontline of bagpipes, whistles, flute, tenor banjo, mandolin, guitar, bouzouki and bodhrán. With these powerful tools at their disposal, they are masters of both subtlety and intensity, exploring the capabilities of these acoustic instruments and producing a formidable sound together.
